hey all
good that people are coming to the site.
ive read a post on funding - cameras, mic's
the original idea i had was a basic representation of reality - to create basic input - this was purely for main core design and development.
this consisted of visual and audio as a start to help design.
bear in mind that the design would have to leave room for development/evoultion. ie: for sound - we use basic samples which the program uses for association purposes. if we can get that to work then evolve the process to analyise sound, sound recognition, isolation of single sound from multible sound's and so on.
the same for visual. i was thinking of a simple program to create basic objects with simple logic - movement, reaction, shape, etc. AS A STARTING POINT. something like a blank screen and a drop menu. select an object, drop it into the screen, let the ai 'look' at it and so on.
this is a Basic and controlable input/reality. if we can keep this small to start we can work of the programs core 'understanding' of it.
to me this aproach would allow more emphises on the core design and development.
and i know - if we did this and it took 6 months to get the core to recognise a circle drom a square, any change would cause major rewrites of the code ie: going from basic pattern recognition to 1024x768 16bit color 25 fps sampleing , just as going from sound samples to a active microphone would be a major step and require a major rework of the modules.
dont get me wrong - this is the ultimate goal , proper sight, sound, touch etc. and i would love to see it as much as everybode else.
does anybody agree - that by starting with active microphone and camera's will cause big problems as we will all have different ideas on how to do it , and this may lead to a break down of progress.
a great thing for stimulation, whatever you work at is progress.
I/O posted his flow chart for the main core design - and this (by his own words) is a basic design, because he left room for all to have their input.
perhaps we start their - develop this program flow/design
i took the liberty of attaching I/O's original design.

hmm, well the problem with that design (as I remember it - I don't have visio anywhere to get it cheap?) is that it is very scalable - I mean that could be an abstract process from anything around an insect reacting to thing up to a human!
also, I think that first we should work on a design for what the core actually does; then we know what modules the core will need immediate access to - build and test those and then we can build the core and plug in our modules.
also I agree with the environment thing, we really do need some kind of basic environment for testing - however don't forget that humans leanr by looking at the world; why should our AI be different?

Either “General Discussion”, or exactly where you put it is fine by me... I guess we need a few more modules... what else do you guys want to see as far as modules (see link below)??? BTW, someone earlier had brought up the subject of who would be admin. of the forum. As of now, it’s me, does anyone want me to hand that over???

no, you seem to be doing a good job. maybe you should make a private user group for all current members though? like "Core Coders" or something - to show we're the original members. |
